The magical moment
„There are places which overpower me completely, with their atmosphere, their light, their landscape. My objective is to capture that mood which one senses here in a photograph: the respect, the inspiration, the secretive and the wonderful of these chosen locations. In order to take such photographs, I always push myself to my physical limits, and those of the materials I use.Often backpacking for days on end, I search out the opportunity to capture my feelings for these grandiose locations on film: the magical moment."
Born in Heidelberg in 1964, Alexander Ehhalt discovered his passionfor landscape
photography at an early age. In the 25 years in which hehas worked as a
photographer he has not only refined his photographictechniques and his visual
perception in advertising photography, but also concentrated increasingly on his
personal passion - nature and landscapes. In 1988, he spent the whole year
travelling through New Zealand with his large-format camera. Since then, he has
consistently devoted himself on many travels throughout the world to reportage
and landscape and panoramic photography. In recent years, he has preferred to
tour the abstract desert landscapes and canyons of the south-western USA, and
also Ireland with its rough coasts and dramatic panoramas. Alexander Ehhalt
works as a self-employed photographer, and is the co-founder of the
photographic studio Lossen Fotografie Heidelberg
and the Heidelberg Images photo gallery.
